Father Thomas Euteneuer, a trained exorcist, began penning a monthly column for New Oxford Review on demonic possession and exorcism.(NOTE: Fr. Euteneuer is also president of the major pro-life organization, Human Life International, and a frequent guest on radio and television. A few statistics in Father’s March 2010 column were particularly shocking.
“The book Generation Hex notes that this generation of American kids is the first ever to grow up in a society in which Christianity has been stigmatized and the occult normalized. The authors also note that Wicca is the fastest growing ‘religion’ in the U.S., and it’s not hard to figure why – there are no fewer than 700,000 Internet sites for ‘teenage witches.’ Meanwhile, the Pew Forum’s ‘U.S. Religious Landscape Survey’ found that ‘former Catholics’ outnumber converts four to one. Ten percent of the U.S. population now consists of ‘ex-Catholics.’”
Father Euteneuer points out that any diocesan bishop may appoint priests with “piety, prudence, and integrity of life” to conduct solemn exorcisms. It is clear from the following excerpt from his column that bishops are about as serious on that subject as they are on cracking down on the Lavender Mafia, liturgical abuses, or even child abuse.
“Fr. Jeff Grob, the exorcist in the Archdiocese of Chicago, has said that there are only some seventeen officially appointed exorcists in the entire country.(My emphasis.) This is hardly an army arrayed against the organized forces of Hell."
Every baptized Catholic here on earth is a member of the Church Militant. Every confirmed Catholic is a soldier for Christ. But exorcists are like the Church’s Delta Force, or SEALs, or other specially-trained, elite fighting force. Whiskey tango foxtrot! The bishops have only designated 17 exorcists for the entire United States!! I know one-twelfth of them are direct successors of Judas Iscariot but what’s up with the rest of them? Do they want souls to be lost for eternity to Satan? Is this another “fruit” of Vatican II? Sin no longer exists so we don’t need exorcists?
St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us!

(My own note, that programs like "Charmed" is a prime example of pandering to teenagers, and introduction to Pagan religions like Wicca. Others like "Bewitched"
and "Sabrina the teen age Witch", subliminally project the "Good Witches theme",and enhance the Pagan, Wicca idea)
